Putting Syrian contemporary art in front of new audiences.
SAFIR supports Syrian contemporary artists through exhibitions and collaborative projects. Sometimes that means backing an artist's own show abroad; sometimes it means organizing an exhibition ourselves.
Either way, the aim is the same: to connect artists' work with audiences, institutions and creative communities internationally, and to build the visibility that sustains a career.
Shows SAFIR has organized or supported, from Tokyo to the UAE.

Parasol Dana
Childhood cartoons meet memories of Damascus in Parasol Dana, an exhibition sponsored by SAFIR at BUoY Arts Center in Tokyo.
Dana Alnafouri, a SAFIR artist since 2017, drew this body of work from her childhood memories of Japanese animation, in particular the 1980s series Parasol Henbē, which was widely watched across the Arab world.
Her paintings fold the series' fantastical scenes into memories of Damascus and the Syrian countryside, producing colourful, playful compositions. UV light reveals hidden layers in the works and changes how they are seen. Further pieces grew from panoramic sketches of Stolac, Bosnia and Herzegovina, made during the International Summer School Youth and Heritage.
Tsukuba Crystallized Déjà Vu
A solo exhibition of works on paper at CICA Museum in South Korea, supported by SAFIR.
Shown unframed, the works on paper leave open space for spontaneous strokes, with colours blending and lines crossing from one sheet to the next across the gallery: a minimalist, joyful body of work.
Alongside her painting, Dana is pursuing a Ph.D. in Humanities and Social Sciences focused on prehistory and archaeology, and her practice draws on both the beauty of nature and scientific logic.
